An Eastern Independent System Operator is pursuing a vision for Operations of the Future in support of their overall Reliability Imperative, which is a broad effort to improve the operator’s capabilities to meet the changing grid and the anticipated challenges in managing and maintaining reliability. Utilicast will support several system transformations to enable necessary future capabilities, beginning with updating and upgrading the PI system currently in use, including increasing the number of points being stored from EMS to PI calculations from approximately 1M to 5M measurements points to better represent the full system conditions in its historian.

Utilicast will coordinate subject matter expert, utility, and vendor resources to support their efforts to meet established target dates. Utilicast shall perform a gap analysis on EDAM and Markets+, with a greater emphasis on the market that makes stronger economic sense related to the results of a public Pacific utility’ Brattle Study that is currently underway. Utilicast will also support the creation of the utility’s Business Case development to include an Executive Summary, overview of EDAM and Markets+, Comparative analysis of each market based on the identified Participation Priorities defined by the utility, and an interpretation of the Brattle work.
